Domestic Adoption - Benefits of Choosing a Private Adoption Agency

Private adoption agencies are more likely to provide the following advantages to clients compared to placement through attorneys:

  • Counseling by qualified, objective social workers who consider all parties equal.
  • Adoptive parents are carefully screened and thoroughly educated about the unique aspects of parenting an adopted child.
  • The birth parents are given time to assure that their placement decision is indeed best. The option to parent will always be discussed.
  • Full and proper relinquishment services always take place.
  • Birth parents are given the option to participate in the selection process. Open adoption is also available.
  • Temporary interim care for the child is offered in a licensed, loving home, if needed. Direct placement from the birth hospital to the adoptive home is also available.
  • Biological background information is permanently maintained.
  • A continuum of services is offered, including post-placement counseling and support groups.
  • No unethical or illegal payments are made to birth parents.
  • All children are adoptable. If a child is born with special medical needs, an agency can locate a family who is prepared to offer a child a permanent home.
