As the federally designated State Unit on Aging, the Department of Aging serves as the sole state agency to coordinate Older Americans Act programs and services, as well as other services to meet the needs of Ohio’s elders.

This statewide collaborative falls prevention initiative is supported by Ohio government and state business partners to ensure that every county, every community and every Ohioan knows how they can prevent falls, one step at a time. Public Notice and Request for Comment
Ohio has posted for public comment a summary of the state’s observations for eight adult day settings that will be submitted to CMS for a heightened scrutiny review. The period for public comment will run from June 15, 2018 to July 15, 2018.
The heightened scrutiny process and public comment period are requirements under the January 16, 2014, CMS Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Settings Final Rule (CMS 2249-F/2296-F), which sets forth the actions Ohio will take to operate all applicable HCBS programs in compliance with
the final rule. States are required to give notice and to provide a 30-day public comment period.
