Catholic Social Services Kicks off 90th Anniversary Celebration at Annual Meeting
Catholic Social Service of the Miami Valley kicked off its 90th Anniversary Celebration at the agency's Annual Leadership Luncheon held on May 13, 2010 at Sinclair Community College's Ponitz Center.
During the program, Executive Director Laura Roesch summarized the agency's progress toward meeting community needs and confirmed that CSSMV had provided services to assist over 23,000 clients across eight Miami Valley counties.
"We are serving at a time when the need for supportive human services has never been greater," explained Roesch.
Citing a 40% increase in emergency food pantry distributions in 2009 and new collaborative projects to prevent homelessness, increase access to child healthcare and provide counseling for unemployed workers, Roesch assured attendees that, "As support is available, CSSMV will seek to expand programs to help those in need."
During the meeting, Sen. Mike and Fran DeWine were honored for their humanitarian work to provide education and infant care in Haiti. Local benefactors, John and Connie Taylor and L. William and Marilyn Crotty were recognized for their support of CSSMV's emergency food distribution program.
At the conclusion of the luncheon, CSSMV President Jim Ghory introduced his successor, Jeffrey A. Mullins, the Partner-in-Charge of the Dayton office of Taft Stettinius and Hollister.
Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley annually assists over 22,000 area residents in Greene, Montgomery, Preble, Darke, Miami, Mercer, Shelby and Auglaize counties.
