Two Successful Events in a BIG Tent
On November 1st, in conjunction with the annual Coats for Kids distribution event presented by WDTN and Dayton’s CW, CSSMV’s Pregnancy & Parenting Support team offered some fall fun for parents with children under the age of one, including expectant parents.
Under an enormous, heated tent in Dayton’s McIntosh Park, the wildly successful Coats for Kids distribution was complemented by Baby’s First Community Birthday Party. This special event, sponsored by the Dayton & Montgomery County Infant Mortality Task Force, featured carnival games and prizes for children; goodie bags and community resources for new parents; door prizes; breakfast, lunch, and hot beverages.
The combined events attracted hundreds of area families and gave CSSMV’s staff an excellent opportunity for community outreach, while roughly 2,000 coats — as well as hats, gloves and scarves — were distributed to those in need.
This was the second year that CSSMV served as the host for the annual Coats for Kids distribution. Connecting this event with the agency’s pregnancy and parenting services was a natural fit!

- PASSPORT Services Help Older AdultsSeptember 27, 2024 - 1:47 pm
PASSPORT is for adults aged 60 and older who may need the level of care provided in a nursing home but hope to stay in their own homes. It is a statewide program funded by Medicaid so participants must be Medicaid-eligible. The first step is an assessment by a nurse or social worker who determines if the older adult would qualify according to level of care requirements. The local Job and Family Services then determines Medicaid eligibility and approves enrollment. Once enrolled, an individual is assigned a care manager who develops a care plan with customized services to help the individual remain safely at home. The care manager makes sure that needs are met with quality services and revises the care plan as needs change.
